“Do I really have to graduate? Or can I just stay here the rest of my life?” …. Words of brilliance my friends. It’s so funny to me how in most stages of my life I was always thinking about what was next. It’s like when little kids can’t wait to be big enough to pour their own juice or tall enough to ride the ferris wheel. Now I am big enough to pour my own juice, ride the ferris wheel, vote, drive a car and all I want to do is go back to when I was young and didn’t have a care in the world. No mortgage, no job, no agenda. And that time was college. It’s the only time in your life where it is completely acceptable to have absolutely no idea what you want to do in life and your only job is to do a bunch of soul searching to find out what that is. I remember thinking “I can’t wait until I have a job and I can buy things I want, not go to class, and actually be a functioning member of society.” Now don’t get me wrong, all these things are nice, but college is like no other time in anyones life and every glorious moment there should be taken in and appreciated for all it is worth.
So my message to all those Sun Devils, Wildcats, MCCers, SCCers, Lumberjacks and everything in between is to enjoy it to the max, study hard and remember that it won’t last forever… although we all wanted it to.
